School mission
Edison Career and Technology is more than a high school education. We are a Career and Technical Education School (CTE), or Critical and Timely Education, as we like to call it.
At Edison Career and Technology High School, students are provided the opportunity to invent their future — and the foundation you need to make it happen.
Edison offers academic, technical training, work-based learning, and support services. Our CTE Pathways connect your high school classes with technical learning, internships, and mentoring to help you get ahead. You can earn industry credentials and college credits, in addition to participating in clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Put it all together, and you get a one-of-a-kind educational experience.
P-Tech Rochester: Pathways to Technology
P-TECH is a six-year program that combines four years of high school with two years of college coursework at Monroe Community College (MCC). By 10th grade, students begin taking college-level classes while still enrolled in high school. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn an Applied Associate Degree in Networking and Cybersecurity at no cost to the family. The application process begins in 8th grade through the School of Choice procedure, with 50 seats available each year for incoming 9th-grade students.
Check out our P-TECH video linked HERE! Contact P-TECH Director Rita Gaston Ross, (585-857-1619) with any questions.

How to apply
Learn about your school options
School Profiles, Digital Magazine, and Open House Events
School profiles are a great place to start learning about the many unique school offerings in the Rochester City School District. Each profile offers a detailed overview of each school or program to help you decide what offering is right for your child. For students entering middle or high school next year, there is a digital magazine to explore your options. Have your child talk to your school’s counselor for information about open houses this winter and spring. To learn more about school selections or to view the magazine, please visit www.rcsdk12.org/schoolselection.
School Zones
The Rochester City School District is separated into three school zones based on different areas of the City of Rochester: Northeast, Northwest, and South. When applying, families have the option of choosing a citywide school or a school within their zone. You can begin an online application and enter your home address to find out what zone you live in and what schools are available for your child to attend. Online applications can be started and saved, allowing families to return and explore options within their zone.
Visit the Office of Student Registration
Student Placement Specialists are available to work with families to discuss school options and assist with online registration.
